A SWIM THROUGH SPACE by Daniel Alexander
Mammals visit the water. Nearly every animal sees water at some point. Dogs run
on the beach. Birds fly above looking for a place to nest. Plenty of creatures
live near the water enjoying the sweet atmospheres. Like space much of the
world remains virtually unknown. There are many creatures deep in the ocean
that nobody ever sees. Research indicates that giant animals are down there,
the giant squid for example. Other creatures show off their longevity. For
example there are turtles that remember Charles Darwin. Humans create art to
try and extend their lifespans in an attempt to reach new viewers.
entire space program exists to visit the stars. Exploration of the world
beneath the waves is done in piecemeal fashion. Boats here, boats there, they
try to understand what exists beneath the water’s surface. Most of the world’s
population is near a coastline of sorts. Waterfront property commands higher
pieces thanks to this proximity. Yet for all those people who stare out into
the water everyday view ever get to see an entire world underneath it. Life for
the 71% of the Earth’s surface is a world that the surface dwellers will never
know. Unfortunately humanity gave up its gills many years ago to flop around on
space there may or may not be creatures looking down at a bluish green mass and
wondering what lives on that surface. Like humans are with the sea perhaps
aliens are with space. With so much empty space and so many uninhabited planets
another one is just a thing to pass by. Creatures on Planet Earth do not think
so. For Earth the universe is out there through telescopes. Fascination with
the galaxy led to the first moon landing. Now cellphones have that technology.
Thanks to Space Exploration humanity has Tang. Even with Buzz Aldrin’s vocal
opinions on Tang it has managed to find a place in everyone’s heart.
space there was a little prince who lived on an asteroid called B-612. Space
Girl might be the little prince’s granddaughter. Perhaps the same curiosity the
little prince had for a crashed pilot in the Sahara decades ago carried on to
Space Girl. Maybe the two are from the same lineage, the group that wants
humanity to continue to explore, to never give up until what was unknown
becomes known piece by piece. What better place to begin than on Planet Earth?
