Fail Better by Beyza Ozer
Windows for opening and windows for closing. A window is not a door it is a separation from the outside world, offering only a view. The change going on outside happens so far yet so close. Such strange things happen from proximity and distance in unequal measures. To understand the non-human nature of the rest of the world, the various dreams a person experiences, it to truly live. Reflection is the way to indicate that those memories acquired had enough meaning to contemplate in solitude. And honestly there is nothing lonelier in the world than death, at least when it is done right scientifically.
Ideas lead to experience. An idea can guide an entire life. Experience colors those ideas with all the colors. Before a person is even born, there are stories waiting there for them to inherit. The world tries to jam up the mind with all kinds of false narratives but honestly sometimes it is better to get off the bus to discover something new. Commutes do that force a path that becomes comfortable. By avoiding this change the cycles of life can feel stifling. Some special someone makes the experiences better, of eating french toast and spending time together in that bathtub full of dogs.
Humanity is the ultimate destroyer. The thing about destruction human-style is that the nature always returns. Entire parts of the planet remain hidden from view many depths under the sea. All this creation in humanity and the thing that people remember the most are the people they’ve lost, the people they’ve spent time with, and the people who are waiting there in the future, waiting to be discovered for the very first time. Clouds are people now, they’ve uploaded so much of their consciousness into the digital realm.
So many ways to have that consciousness uploaded, it can be startling to realize how quickly death can happen. Water does that to a bunch of people because it does cover 70% of the Earth’s surface. Humanity has created a bunch of ways to accidentally kill itself through planes, trains, and automobiles. Public transportation tends to at least be a cost effective way to die. Everything about a life leads up to that point in life: the way things unwind up.
To fail better takes a lifetime to perfect. Light tries to illuminate the darkness that can follow such moments. Living in such proximity to so many in such large buildings can make a person feel so small. Really though every person is small in relation to the universe, for every person takes up only a mere blip. While such a thought could be tragic there is a comfort there, the way that a person can disappear and reappear at will like the moon.
Up in space there are so many empty directions. Only a blackhole offers a path. They are devoid of all apparently with the ability to crush everything. No light exists there. Maybe if blackholes rebranded as doors they’d be far better off, with a greater degree of respectability. For the lonely ones of the world the moon becomes their friend. Earth knows the moon is lucky to be in its orbit, without it there would be no tides an essential part of life. With its stealing of sunlight at night the moon feels guilty but has enough gravity to carry itself along.
Living takes a lot out of a person. There is a huge amount of judgement in the world that exists for no other reason than to give a person something to do. Many of the world’s problems are communication ways, the way that tower of babel ruined everything and created so many languages. A single one would be ideal but it still so far away from doing such a thing. Connection leads to a fulfilling life, one that fills the emptiness that can consume a life, one that makes it purposeful to live for others and their love.
