Gregg Stewart – Starman
Gregg Stewart taps into the inner spirit of David Bowie’s soulful work with the intimate chamber pop of “Starman”. Luxurious and crystal clear, Gregg Stewart sings with true passion over the course of the piece. Infinitely tasteful the song’s attention to detail adds to its rather inviting presence. By opting for such a style Gregg Stewart adds additional heft beyond the song’s original glam rock leanings, giving it a slightly more classical and folksy bent to it. Still though, Gregg Stewart allows the dreamy psychedelic vibe of the original to inform his composition. Volume serves the song well for the celebratory message deserves to be feel as much as heard.
Things begin with a laid-back acoustic guitar and elegant piano. Gregg Stewart’s vocals adorn the entirety of the piece. His voice displays great range, as it builds up becoming more powerful with each reiteration. Quite hopeful the gentle melody reflects itself in multiple instruments, letting the song delve into a kaleidoscopic realm. Settling into a groove for a bit the song’s drive never stops. About halfway through the piece the way the song becomes ever more gorgeous allows the piece to nearly drift off into the night sky. Towards the finale of the song the hushed reverence of the song is rather endearing, as the delicate nature of the composition slowly unfurls until the song simply fades away in a luscious blur.
Inspiration pours out of the balanced perfection of Gregg Stewart’s “Starman”.
