I AM ALT LIT::CONFIDENTIAL ‘EP 6’
of ‘Shoplifting from American Apparel’. Pirooz guided young confused Stephen
around Los Angeles. Here Stephen admits that Pirooz is an old wise man living
on a hill in rural downtown Los Angeles. With all of Pirooz’s films there is a
large amount of heart. This is one of Pirooz’s first parts of his promotional
tour for the movie. Indeed the new promotional tour for any film is generally
showing stuff on the internet. That’s how people learned about the hit indie
films ‘Snakes on a Plane’ and ‘Mega-Shark versus Giant Octopus’.
into how he began in indie movies. Before Pirooz was a major indie film maker he
worked on various ‘reality’ television programs. The art of Noah Cicero and Tao
Lin is authentic to Pirooz. Hearing how Pirooz found out about Noah and Tao is
interesting. One day somebody showed him their work. Upon reading their work he
felt that there was the best writing he’d encountered since reading various
writers from the ‘Beat Generation’. Many dig the beat generation’s work. Comparing
alt lit to the beat generation is pretty strong stuff.
festivals may or may not take ‘Shoplifting from American Apparel’ into their
tender loving arms. SXSW film festival may accept it. According to countless
internet people it is a great thing. Here Stephen expands upon the audience
interaction of the movie. Pirooz puts in Gchats into the film. Then he proceeds
to criticize the Gchats that are put into the film. It’s funny. Reviews are
good. Millions of sloths love the idea of a review within a review of art. What
does this review even count for? Is this a review or something more? Can this
be given some sort of score? It is hard to say.
is the answer to ‘Shoplifting from American Apparel’. Millions of online
residents loved the book. Certain sloths have read it and possess a copy of
their own, to refer to right before they think about stealing. Stealing is
wrong. More than that it gets people arrested all the time. Despite Tao Lin’s
excellent ability to write he sucks ass as a shoplifter. A few have noted Tao’s
inability to properly shoplift anything. Shoplifting is tough. Few do it
properly if there is indeed a proper way.
does not take place overnight. People spend years trying to improve themselves.
Brad Warner states it takes years. ‘Shoplifting from American Apparel’ features
this young buck of an actor. For those needing enlightenment they can watch
Brad light up the screen with his smile or something. Relationships are a part
of the movie as well, as these characters are in relationships or finding new people
to find relationships with.
screen receives some serious attention. What happens with local screen is if
enough people request a movie to be shown it is shown. This is beautiful. Indie
films earn money this way. Part of the ticket sales for the New York City
screening will go to Hurricane Sandy efforts. Stephen shows surprise that a
company would do such a thing, like being a decent human being sort of thing.
He’s not joking about it. He moves on to the next question from Andrew
Worthington asks a ‘game-changing’ question about whether or not other alt lit
books will be turned into movies. Here Pirooz states that he could have a four
short film full film, like with Brandon Scott Gorrell’s poetry, Miles Ross’s
poetry, and other people’s poetry. In the meanwhile he’s making a Zombie film.
Stephen is excited to see this movie. Going viral in a zombie apocalypse is
tough with all the YouTube clips and all.
is a full-time writer in addition to his film making activities. Here he
mentions his ‘The Whopper Strategies’ book. Many have not read his books. This is a
problem. This is a problem that can be easily rectified. One can search it out;
it is a dirty e-book. Amazon sells it. Reader reviews are glowing for this
book, a whole lot of five star ratings.
interview ends with what Pirooz means to accomplish with his work. Stephen
states nobody knows why they do things. It is okay. Not knowing is part of the
joy of live. Pirooz relates to what happens when he critiques his own work.
Hence art can be edited and can be further refined the further away it comes in
time. Beauty exists in art. Artists are their own critics.
tough in Ohio. People leave Ohio. They never return. Big cities are for art. In
a small town art people feel alone. It is sad. Good thing there are big cities
for alt lit people to head to, to find other art people from other small towns.
Finally it ends like all alt lit spreecasts should with a DVD going to a very
