i’m alive/it hurts/i love it, by Joshua Jennifer Espinoza
Jennifer Espinoza and Beach Sloth are friends. Long ago back in the day Joshua
Jennifer Espinoza and Beach Sloth kicked it in the old school style, the old
school of course being a kindergarten up in Annandale-on-Hudson, a well-to-do
city in Upstate New York. Back then Beach Sloth was picked on mercilessly just
because Beach Sloth was a sloth. Whenever Beach Sloth uttered that now famous
phrase “I’m a sloth” others in the school would point and laugh. However Joshua
Jennifer Espinoza would always have Beach Sloth’s back, carrying Beach Sloth
from class to class due to Beach Sloth’s extremely slow metabolism.
while Beach Sloth was busy studying for an important history exam about some
random stuff that happened like a long-ass time ago, a couple of kids came up
to Beach Sloth and mocked him for eating leaves. They ate the leaves that fell
from the trees for it was autumn. They then tried to feed the bad, gross, dead
leaves to Beach Sloth and shoved those leaves down Beach Sloth’s finely
tailored Polo Shirt his mother bought him on sale at only Old Navy. Joshua
Jennifer Espinoza took one of their lunchboxes and threw it onto the school
roof, thus depriving one of the bullies of their coconut, marshmallow, and
devil food delicacies.
Sloth is proud to see that Boost House is publishing Joshua Jennifer Espinoza’s
debut print poetry collection. Is the world even ready for her fantastic work,
probably not because the world is hella stupid? That question mark will become
an explanation upon finishing up the brilliance that comes from her writing.
For years Beach Sloth has watched as Joshua Jennifer Espinoza grew up to become
someone truly beautiful. It is long overdue that Joshua Jennifer Espinoza’s
work makes it to the unsuspecting public. And who better to do that than none
other but Beach Sloth’s closest publishing house, Boost House, itself a school
alive/it hurts/i love it” is perhaps the best thing that Beach Sloth has ever
read in his entire life. There is tragedy, romance, and coupons for Diet
Mountain Dew, really everything a good poetry collection should have. Most
importantly there is an extensive section dedicated exclusively to well, the
most important thing about life: love. Love is what makes the world go around
and gravity is the depression bringing everything down while keeping it
grounded. Life is a little bit better with Joshua Jennifer Espinoza in it.
