INTERNET PEOPLE IRL – AWP
the yearly pilgrimage of Alt Lit. It remains one of the few times Alt Lit
people get an opportunity to meet people in real life. Peterbd takes copious
photos of the entire event, among other things. Yes the Alt Lit life is not for
everyone. Most can afford the Alt Lit life since is it basically poverty or
close to poverty.
Gannon is the Shaun Gannon of Alt Lit. Adoration of Shaun Gannon is common.

DC Shaun picks up a few happy travelers on their way to beautiful Boston. DJ
Berndt comes along with his world-famous laugh. Will Bechtold easily one of the
chillest people on the face of the Earth joins them. Together they recover from
the cookies because the cookies were really sugary.
seemingly nowhere Alex Vance appears. He’s lucky enough to live in Boston all
year around. Peterbd is extremely fortunate to have met this exotic creature.
From an extreme vantage point Peterbd can see a little bit of what Alex is
writing. This certainly is a rare treat. Typically no one sees how an Alt Lit
writer writes. Methods are kept completely mysterious. Nate, Alex’s roommate,
is somewhat Alt Lit as he’s into OK Cupid. OK Cupid is the most Alt Lit of all
the dating sites.
the apartment the perspective shifts to a bar. Stephen Michael McDowell talks
on his phone. Stephen Michael McDowell is one of the ‘powerhouses’ of Alt Lit.
Alex Seedman sits nearby as Alex Seedman rules. Andrew Worthington possesses a
beard now. That’s amazing. Before he rocked the mustache pretty hard but he’s
moved on to more face-covering facial hair. Peterbd drops a major revelation
that Stephen Michael McDowell has a brother following the same Alt Lit route. Besides
this major event there’s Nathan Masserang talking of how he typically does not
Lee shows up for the book fair. Mike Young, a young writer judging by his last
name, gives Peterbd his last book. Mike Young has been featured on such
prestigious blogs as ‘Beach Sloth’. At Steve Roggenbuck’s reading everyone came
together. Theo Thimo makes it, Moon Temple makes it, and Scott Krave makes it,
even the rarely seen Elaine Sun. Together they feel the warmth that Steve
Roggenbuck’s reading radiates. Sarah Jean Alexander of Baltimore fame makes the
reading that much more memorable.

there’s a party. It is a rule of Alt Lit. Besides the affable Stephen Tully
Dierks there’s Carrie Lorig from Chicago. Jess Dutschmann the lion of Alt Lit

gets a bit tipsy. Some of the pictures are too blurry to make out. Matthew Savoca’s
picture is rather clear. Hopefully Peterbd got sober for this epic picture.
Kendra Grant Malone was in attendance also in a fine photograph. Afterwards
there are two Andrews (Andrew Worthington and Andrew Fishkind) along with the
two Steves (Stephen Tully Dierks and Steve Roggenbuck). Unfortunately for
Peterbd he received a middle finger from Andrew Fishkind for his photography.
might have had bad weather but the people make it wonderful. Hopefully next
year even more people will attend AWP. Perhaps next year even the anonymous online
presence Beach Sloth will be able to attend following a successful Kickstarter
campaign. That’s a hope.
