Richard Schroder – Drive
Richard Schroder offers a soulful sound on the passion-fueled “Drive”. Over the course of the album Richard Schroder incorporates punchy rhythms alongside thoughtful lyricism. Full of love the songs glide by with a leisurely easy-going spirit. Stylistically Richard Schroder opts for a poppy spirit as he touches upon the best of rock with a distinctly rustic western twang. Layer upon layer come together in glorious ways, featuring tremendous guitar work and nimble percussion. Everything works wonders as Richard Schroder proves to be a compelling storyteller, as his songs delve into a pining, yearning feeling for someone truly special.
Things start up just right with the full-bodied opener “Drivin’”. A giddy joy defines the spirited glory of “Nashville Girl”. On “Backseat Love” Richard Schroder continues with this happiness while the swirling style comes together in a perfect way as the lyrics focus on a pitch-perfect past. Stripping things down to the absolute essentials “Someone Else” features an expressive acoustic guitar with a chamber pop spirit to it. With “One And The Same” a bubbly attitude comes forth from the neon-hued synthesizer that graces much of the piece. Laid-back and leisurely “Wildest Dreams” goes for something truly reflective. By far the highlight of the album comes from the expansive nature of “Pray For You” where Richard Schroder lets the song grow into a colossal glorious portrait of a life lived most fully. Closing the album is the relaxing trip of “Emily”.
On “Drive” Richard Schroder touches upon the true spirit of rock and roll with a great glorious rush of energy.
