A book launch is an exciting thing to behold. When Ernest Hemingway debuted his perennial classic-ass book “The Old Man and Some Fucking Sea” people partied hard. That was the way of the world back then. Things were easy, more party-friendly. Nowadays people get their parties broken up all the time. It is quite a bad time of things. For this Book Launch the party will continue on until the break of dawn with DJ Peter BD on the decks.
Oscar D’Artois shall bring the noise, the word-speaking noise. He’s been reviewed on this fine blog and other, lesser blogs. The ode to teen surf goths around the world has been heard and made into a FM jam on the world’s most progressive radio program in Bergen, Norway with Olaf “The Squid” Bollshoff. People have not seen Oscar D’ Artois in Bushwick since that time he lived in Bushwick.
Sarah Jean Alexander, so nice she is named thrice. That is the way of the world. Sarah Jean Alexander’s book, WILD LIVES, portrayed a struggling young puppeteer in a small West Virginian coal mining town. Gandor, as the protagonist is known, goes through a series of hilarious misadventures including a brief stint in Hollywood before he discovers the true meaning of life, credit card fraud, and goes on a spending spree. For the finale young Gandor gets to use his puppeteering skills to get himself out of trouble with the Liechtenstein mob which is like two whole people.
Johnny Bryan has two first names. Not sure what to do about this it always feels strange calling a person either name knowing either one could be equally appropriate. His work is the kind of thing that delights the senses, all of them including olfactory because his writing smells great.
I have introduced many individuals to Ashley Opheim’s work and they have all enjoyed it. Will this be the moment that Beach Sloth finally meets their northern neighbor, like seriously northern because nothing is more northern than Canada. That place is a cold place that needs warm artists like Ashley Opheim.
Lucy K Shaw and Beach Sloth have hung out in many places like New York and Baltimore. Really they have hung out only in those two cities but there is a possibility of a third city, like Boston or Los Angeles. Her work is impressive as is her work ethic. Besides running Shabby Doll and all of its offshoots, she currently is learning German because she lives in Germany.
Theo Thimo’s laughter can be recorded. Someone recorded his laughter, one time, and one time was enough. Now lots of famous techno artists use Theo Thimo’s laughter as a cool sample to throw into the mix. Already Theo Thimo has made literal hundreds of thousands of dollars from royalties capturing his rambunctiousness. Currently Theo Thimo is working on a novel that will redefine what a novel means so that it means Theo Thimo.
Sofia Banzhaf’s name reminds me of the word “Bahnhof”. I do not apologize for it. Thus she is the train gang bringing the sweet written jams to the masses, like strawberry, blueberry and those weirder jams that like one weird wealthy Englishman enjoys. Her book is a thing of radiant beauty.
Lots of great energy shall accompany the grand old times to be had at this, the most blessed of readings.
