question of “What do writers carry in their purses” is finally answered. How it
is answered in the most descriptive way possible because this is the future and
the future is okay, not great, just okay.
Lee starts it off with a list of her money. Lots of money, over eight entire
dollars’ worth resting comfortably in her purse. Receipts document her previous
high living which includes concert tickets, receipts for restaurants, and
travel. Out in New York City there is always going to be an MTA card somehow, somewhere.
Marie Marciano goes through lipsticks. Lipsticks are like snowflakes: no two
are like except for the ones that are. Everyone in New York City carries their
lease with them because renting is a nightmare. Few own their own homes anyway
via insane real estate prices. Toothpaste is a must and should be carried

and lots of receipts.
Whitten houses a small notebook in her purse. Her life reveals itself within
her purse. Lots of those memories reside alongside other memories happy to be
